Winged Cats
In the 1960's a stuffed winged cat was offered for sale. Also in 1899 in the village of Wivelscombe in Somerset there lived a tabby cat, which sported two fur-covered wings. A photograph of it appeared in the November 1899 addition of Strand magazine. Another winged cat is said to have been exibited at the Oxford Zoo in the 1930's. A fourth was also exibited at Blackpool museum.
Other cases have been reported from the United States and Sweden. The unfortunate Swedish cat was shot in 1949, and examined. Its wing-span was 23 inches, and it weighed 20 lb.
