The Feline Aids Scare
The Feline Aids virus ( feline-T-lymphotrophic lentivirus ) is not harmful to humans. There is no evidence to suggest that it can infect the human body. And human Aids cannot be transmitted to cats. It does belong to the same group of viruses, but is only distantly related.
Unfortunately, there was a scare when a Californian newspaper reported that a number of domestic cats were carrying the "Feline Aids" virus, some owners panicked and had their cats destroyed for fear of being infected.
